Our Company

Founded in 1934 in New York City, Times Square Lighting began as a distributor and rental house for theatrical and special effects lighting. As we grew, we expanded into manufacturing and opened a plant in Stony Point, NY where we still operate today.

Still family-owned, we are known for high-quality, reliable products and exceptional customer service. Today, we utilize decades of expertise in theatrical lighting to design and manufacture track/surface luminaires, recessed fixtures, house lights, and pattern projectors — each developed for innovation, performance, and value.

At Times Square Lighting, we are driven by a commitment to excellence, creativity, and integrity. We proudly serve customers across North America through our network of representatives in the United States and Canada.

    1934

Times Square Stage and Studio Supply is born on West 47th Street in the heart of Manhattan to service the city’s bustling theater community. Over the years, founder Max Hilzenradt and his two sons, George and Robert, advance from refurbishing older fixtures to creating and manufacturing their own original product line.

A larger facility was soon needed, so the company moved just up the block to a brownstone and storefront at 318 West 47th Street, making sales and rentals easily accessible for theaters, schools and performance spaces in the New York City area. To meet the rising demand, a manufacturing facility is also purchased in Rockland County, New York, for fabrication, painting and assembly.

    1970–1980

Leaning into the rise of disco and the growing need for nightclub lighting and special effects, a new 32,000 square foot manufacturing facility was built in Stony Point, New York. Times Square Lighting became the worldwide leader in disco and club lighting, all while preserving their theatrical roots

    1985–Present

The company explands into the world of track and display lighting for stores, museums, houses of worship, and more. When Ken Lennon, former executive lighting designer for Disney Imagineering, eyes a Times Square theatrical track head at a trade show, it cinches Times Square as the lead provider for Disney Stores nationwide. What started in a basement to service Manhattan theaters now quickly expands to accommodate accounts and partnerships with businesses and establishments across the globe.
